Mass Delete All Your Reddit Comments

For every post you submitted, you probably left dozens of comments, scattered through other people's threads in corners of Reddit you will never revisit. Redact rounds them all up and deletes them in bulk: the complete comment history, or just the pieces you point it at. Filter by subreddit, date, keyword, or karma, preview the batch, then run it.

The scale of the comment problem

Comments outnumber everything else you post

Nobody remembers their comments, which is exactly the problem. They pile up far faster than posts, they live inside other people's threads, and there is no single screen on Reddit where you can review what years of replying actually add up to.

01

You have far more comments than posts

Comments accumulate faster than your posts, or anything else you put on Reddit, buried in threads you will never open again. Cleaning that up by hand means finding thousands of old threads one at a time, which is why almost nobody finishes the job.

02

A comment outlives its thread

Your reply keeps sitting under someone else's post long after the conversation ended, stripped of the context that made it make sense. Read cold, years later, an old comment can say something you never meant it to.

03

Your username can be tied to your name

Reddit comments are public and searchable. The moment a username gets linked to your real identity, a decade of offhand replies becomes a searchable profile of you. Clearing them removes that trail.

Your whole history, in one place

Every comment pulled into a single list

Cleaning up by hand means finding thousands of old threads again, one at a time, which is why nobody ever actually finishes. Redact skips the hunt entirely. It pulls your complete comment history straight from your account into one list, every reply in one place, ready to preview and clear.

  • One list, not a scavenger hunt. Every comment Redact can see, gathered into a single view instead of scattered across old threads.
  • Preview before anything goes. The full match list shows first, so you approve exactly what gets removed.
  • Let the classifier read for you. A local offensive-content model rereads your history and flags the comments most likely to embarrass, offend, or age badly, so you do not have to skim years of replies yourself. Nothing is sent anywhere to score it; the model runs on your device.
  • Whole history in one list
  • Preview before deleting

Ways to narrow the run

The whole comment history, or surgical bits and pieces

Leave every filter blank and Redact queues every comment you have ever posted. Or stack any of these to carve out an exact slice before a single comment is touched. A preserve match always overrules a delete match.

Subreddit lists

Confine the run to certain communities, or add subreddits to a preserve list to leave them untouched.

Date range

Absolute dates or a relative window, from one bad week all the way back to your first comment.

Keyword include and preserve

Delete comments containing your listed words or phrases, and keep a preserve list to shield the ones you want to survive.

Karma ceiling

Set a maximum karma and Redact removes only comments at or below it, so your downvoted and ignored replies go while your upvoted history stands. There is no minimum-karma option.

Offensive-content classifier

Turn on a local model that flags your most regrettable comments for you. It runs on your device and its matches show up in preview alongside your keyword and karma matches.

Enhanced scan

Also find comments hidden from your profile by users who blocked you. This roughly doubles the scan time.

Data package import

Feed Redact your official Reddit data export and even the comments the API hides join the run. Import is free and covers comments only.

The four run modes

Total control, or total automation. Your call.

Preview Mode

See the full match list without touching anything. Nothing is removed until you say so.

Deletion Mode

Run straight through the queue and clear every matching comment until the list is empty.

Review & Delete

Step through the matches and approve each comment yourself before it is removed.

Schedule Deletion

Save your filters and let Redact rerun the same cleanup on its own so new comments do not pile back up. Scheduling is a Premium feature.

Four moves, start to finish

How to mass delete your Reddit comments

Anonymizing your comments with the Edit action is free on every plan, across your whole history. Permanently deleting them is on a Premium plan.

  1. 1

    Download Redact for free

Install Redact on your device. It runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux, plus iOS and Android.

    Download for your device →
  2. 2

    Connect your Reddit account

Open Redact, choose Reddit, and link your account securely. Your credentials are sent straight to Reddit and never touch a Redact server.

  3. 3

Choose Comments, then set the scope

Select Comments as what to clear. Easy mode handles a straight comment deletion with a date range; open the Comments tab in the Advanced form for the filters below. Leave them blank for a full wipe.

    • Subreddits: confine the run to certain communities, or preserve the ones you want to keep.
    • Keywords and karma: target comments by the words in them or clear everything at or below a karma threshold.
    • Reddit rate limits aggressively. If you hit errors on a large run, slow it down with the rate-limit setting.

Some old comments never show up over the API. To reach them, import your Reddit data package on the Comments tab. Import is free and covers comments only.

  4. 4

    Preview, then let it work

The full list shows first, so you can check it and exclude anything you want to keep. Approve it and Redact grinds through, pacing itself against Reddit's rate limits. Keep the app running until it finishes so nothing is missed.

A decade of replies, processed at home

Every comment Redact reads, matches, or removes is handled on your own computer. Your login and your comments never pass through a Redact server, nothing is uploaded, cached, or logged on our side, and cutting the Reddit connection takes one click.
