Old Reddit content does not know it is old
Everything you post on Reddit is stamped with a date nobody looks at. A take from years ago sits next to yesterday's comment carrying the same weight, and a date filter is the fastest way to give your history a shelf life without combing through it by hand.
A 2013 comment reads like today's
Reddit shows your oldest content alongside your newest, with nothing to signal how much has changed since. Rope off the years that deserve retirement and only your recent activity stays on your profile.
Your username is the search term
When someone looks up your handle, it is a coin flip which post they meet first. Clearing an old date window removes the context-free history that no longer represents you.
Set it once, keep it rolling
A relative window like older than one year re-checks itself on every run. Pair it with a schedule and anything that ages past your cutoff disappears without you touching it again.
A precise window, or your whole history
Set the window two ways. Absolute takes real calendar dates. Relative is a rolling window measured back from today. Either way, Redact clears everything inside it and leaves the rest untouched.
Each content type carries its own range, so last year's comments can go while every post survives.
- Absolute dates. A fixed start and end: from March 2015 to January 2018, before a specific day, after one, or the whole account from first post to now. If you can name it on a calendar, the filter can enforce it.
- Relative windows. A rolling cutoff like older than two years that moves forward with the current date. This is what makes it schedule-ready: set the line once and it keeps enforcing itself.
- Free anonymizing, at any age. Free accounts can anonymize posts and comments inside the window with the Edit action, across their whole history. Permanently deleting them opens up on a paid plan, as do chats.

Narrow the window when dates alone are too blunt
A date range is a wide net. Stack Reddit's other filters on top to carve an exact slice out of a window instead of clearing all of it. These all combine with your dates:
Subreddits
Limit the window to certain communities, or protect the ones you want to keep with a preserve list.
Keywords
Only clear dated content whose title, body, comment, or chat text matches a word or phrase, and preserve anything that mentions terms you want to keep.
Karma ceiling
Clear everything in the window at or below a maximum karma you pick, so your most-downvoted old content goes while higher-scoring history stays.
