A recap that doesn't need your data
Everything here is worked out on your device from the file TikTok gave you.
TikTok Wrapped: common questions
This recap isn't made by TikTok. Redact builds it from the data download TikTok lets you request. It counts what's in that file, like the videos you watched, your searches and your likes, and it reads the file in your browser, so it never leaves your device.
In the TikTok app, open your profile, tap the menu in the top corner, then Settings and privacy, then Account, then Download your data. Choose All data, pick JSON or HTML as the format and tap Request data. TikTok takes up to a few days to make it. When it's ready it shows under the Download data tab on that same screen, and you have four days to download it before it expires.
A custom export lets you tick categories one by one, and a download made that way can come without your watch history, which is where most of the recap comes from. All data includes the watch history along with your likes, searches, comments and follows.
It's an estimate. The download says when each video started playing, not how long you watched it. The recap adds up the time between one video and the next, counting a gap of up to 5 minutes in full. A longer gap means you put the app down, so the video before it counts as 30 seconds. Real watch time could be higher or lower.
TikTok decides how far back each list in the download goes, and the watch history can stop sooner than your likes or follows do. A month with no videos in the recap is a month that isn't in your file.
The latest year that has ended and has videos you watched, with December counting the current year as ended. If your watch history only covers this year, the recap opens on this year. Pick any other year from the list, or All time to see everything in the download at once.
No. Your browser reads the file where it sits on your device, and no part of it is sent to Redact or anyone else. To check, turn off your internet after this page loads and then open the download. The recap still works.
Build a story-size card from your stats. Start from Highlights, Everything or My TikTok type, then pick the big number, tick the stats you want and choose one of six color templates. Save it as a PNG or copy it, then post it wherever you like. There's no share link, because the card is drawn on your device and Redact never has a copy.
Only if you tick them. Your top search and your message counts are marked personal and are never ticked for you. A card never names the people you message; the page lists them for you alone. Your username is on the card by default, and one tick takes it off.
From your own numbers for the year, checked in order. A sitting of 90 minutes or more makes you a binge watcher. A favorite hour from 10 PM to 4 AM makes you a night owl, and 5 AM to 9 AM an early bird. After that come lots of comments, lots of likes and busy weekends. Anyone else is a steady scroller.
TikTok writes every time in the download in UTC. The recap moves them to the time zone your device is set to. If you traveled during the year, the hours from those weeks are shown on your current clock.
Yes. Download the ZIP from TikTok to your phone, open this page in the phone's browser and tap the box to choose the ZIP. A long watch history can take a few seconds longer to read on a phone.
Redact mass-deletes your TikTok videos, likes and reposts, including old ones. The recap itself only reads the download and can't change anything on your account.
Step-by-Step Guide
How to get your TikTok data download
The recap is made from the data download TikTok gives you on request. These are the steps in the TikTok app as of November 2026.
Step 1 Open Download your data
- A In the TikTok app, go to your profile and tap the three lines in the top corner.
- B Tap Settings and privacy, then Account, then Download your data.
Step 2 Choose All data and a format
- A Pick All data. A custom export can come without your watch history, and most of the recap is made from it.
- B Set the format to JSON or HTML. The recap reads either one.
- C Tap Request data.
Step 3 Download the file when it's ready
- A TikTok can take a few days. When the file is ready it appears under the Download data tab on the same screen.
- B Tap Download. The file expires after four days, and then you'd have to ask for a new one.
Step 4 Drop it in here
- A Drop the ZIP into the box at the top of this page. There's no need to unzip it.
- B Your recap opens on the latest finished year with videos you watched, or this year if your watch history only covers this year. Pick another year, or All time, from the list above it.
