Delete Your TripAdvisor Photos in Bulk

Vacation photos uploaded to a review are pinned to a real place with your name on them. Redact pulls your uploads off TripAdvisor in bulk and can save copies to your device on the way out, so the memories survive even when the uploads do not.

Clearing photos uploaded in the last 30 days is free. Reaching back into older trips needs a paid plan.

Why clean up your TripAdvisor photos

Your uploads are a public gallery of your trips

Photos attached to a review or a location page are public, tied to your profile, and dated. They add up to more than you meant to publish.

01

Your uploads are not just yours

Photos attached to a review or a location page sit in public galleries, tied to your profile. Anyone researching the hotel lands right on them, no account needed.

02

They show more than the view

A photo taken to remember a meal also captures who you were with, what your kids look like, and which room you stayed in. That is a lot to leave published for a note about the pasta.

03

They build a timeline of you

Upload by upload, your photos add up to a dated map of where you have travelled and how often. Clearing them takes that map offline without touching your written reviews.

04

Your gallery outlasts your patience

Every upload hides behind its own little menu, scattered across years of reviews and location pages. Clearing that one photo at a time is a weekend gone.

What this feature does

Clear one trip, or the whole gallery

Tick Photos under Content Types and Redact queues the uploads on your profile. One trip usually means one date range, so setting the window around your travel dates is the cleanest way to clear a single vacation. When the wording is what marks the batch, Text Content matches a photo's caption, its title, and the place it is attached to, and Place Name targets the property itself.

Untick Reviews and only your photos are touched: the categories are independent, and a photos-only run never queues a written review. Keep the local archiver on and copies are written to your device before anything is removed.

Filter before you delete

Narrow the gallery down to one trip

The photo filters read the same fields the app shows on each upload: its title, its caption, and the place it belongs to.

Date range

Set the window around a trip's travel dates and every upload from that vacation queues at once. The rest of the gallery never enters the run.

Text Content to delete

Only delete photos whose caption, title, or place name contains one of your words. Matching is whole-word.

Text Content to preserve

Always keep uploads containing a word you list, so a favourite shot survives a wide sweep.

Place Name

Target the photos attached to one property or attraction by name, rather than everything from that era.

Reviews stay put

Content Types are independent checkboxes, so a photos-only run leaves your written reviews exactly where they are.

Run it your way

Run the gallery cleanup your way

Preview

See the contact sheet first. Every matching upload is listed before a single photo comes down.

Deletion

Empty the gallery in one run. Redact pulls every matched upload while the public grid thins out.

Review and Delete

Go through the matches and choose for yourself. Save the sunset, cut the hotel room, photo by photo.

Schedule

Housekeeping that repeats itself. Uploads that age into your rules leave the gallery on the next run.

Step-by-step guide

How to delete TripAdvisor photos in bulk with Redact

Set the window, preview the matches, keep the copies, then run it.

  1. 1

    Download Redact for free

Install Redact on your computer. It runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux.

    Download for your device →
  2. 2

    Connect your TripAdvisor account

Open Redact, choose TripAdvisor, and sign in. The session is created on your own machine and used to talk to TripAdvisor directly, so your login never touches a Redact server.

  3. 3

Tick Photos and set your filters

Under Content Types, tick Photos and untick anything you want left alone. Then shape the batch, or leave the filters blank to queue every upload.

    • Date range: the travel dates of the trip you want cleared.
    • Text Content to delete: words that appear in the caption, the title, or the place name.
    • Text Content to preserve: the shots you want kept no matter what.
    • Place Name: one property or attraction by name.

Good to know: deleting photos from the last 30 days is free, filters included. Clearing anything older than 30 days needs a paid plan. Most TripAdvisor photos are years old, so a paid plan is the realistic route for a full clear-out.

  4. 4

    Turn the archiver on

Redact's archiver saves your photos to your own device before they are removed, and it can tag what it archives by content type so the copies are easy to sort later. The archive lives on your disk, never on a Redact server.

  5. 5

    Preview, then run it

Run a preview to see exactly which uploads matched, adjust the date range or the wording until the list is right, then start the deletion.

Heads up: a deleted upload cannot be restored, so make sure the archive is on before you confirm.

Your photos stay on your machine

Redact runs on your device and talks to TripAdvisor directly from there. Your uploads are never sent to a Redact server, and the archive copies are written to your own disk before anything is removed.
