TripAdvisor's travel forums are indexed by search engines, so a question you asked about a trip in 2016 can still surface next to your username today. Redact includes your forum posts in the cleanup, matched by date or by the words a post contains, so your profile stops being a public log of everywhere you have been.

Clear Your Saved Places and Trips
Your saved places live inside Trips, and a Trip maps out where you have been and where you are planning to go next. Redact lists your Trips and deletes them as whole lists, so the plans stay in your notes instead of on your profile. Match them by date, by the words in a Trip's title or description, or clear the lot.

Delete TripAdvisor Content by Date Range
Scope any cleanup to the timeframe you choose. Delete everything within specific dates, everything before a date, or everything after one. If you would rather think in relative terms, that works too: clear everything older than a year, everything between two and five years old, or just the last month. Presets run from yesterday back to all time, and relative ranges stay accurate every time a scheduled cleanup runs.
Saved Trips are dated by the most recent item added to them, and a Trip with no dated items is left out of a date-filtered run.

These dates are set to specific dates. The Scheduler feature will delete only between these dates.
Delete by Keyword, or Preserve by Keyword
Maybe there is one hotel you would rather not be publicly associated with, or a review where you mentioned who you were travelling with. Add your words to the Text Content delete list and Redact only queues contributions whose text or place name contains one of them, across reviews, photo captions, forum posts, and Trip titles.
The second list works the other way: anything containing a word you put on the preserve list is always kept, whatever else matched it. Matching is whole-word, so a short filter will not swallow half your history.

Filter by Place Name
Only delete contributions about places whose name contains one of your terms. Put in a hotel chain, a restaurant, or a single property and Redact takes off your whole history with it while everything else stays published. For a saved Trip, the place name is the Trip's own title, and a forum post only carries one when the thread is tied to a location.

Filter Reviews by Bubble Rating
Tick any of the one to five bubble ratings and Redact only matches reviews carrying those ratings. Clear the one and two bubble write-ups you posted on a bad day and leave the positive ones up, or do the reverse.
This filter applies to reviews only. Photos, forum posts, and saved Trips carry no rating, so ticking bubbles never changes what a run does to them.

Clearing your public history does not have to mean losing your own record of it. With the archiver on, every review, photo, forum post, and Trip is saved to your device before it is removed, and the archiver can tag what it saves by content classification so it is easy to sort later.
The archive lives on your computer, not on a Redact server. Your trips stay in your notes, and off the public internet.

They are skipped, and the run carries on. If TripAdvisor rejects a single item, for example a review that has been locked by moderation, Redact records it as skipped rather than failing the whole job, so one stubborn item cannot stop the rest of your cleanup.

Closing your account is done through TripAdvisor's own settings, and it is a reasonable choice if you are done with the platform. Plenty of people would rather clear their contributions and keep the account, so they can still plan trips without a public history attached. Redact handles the content side either way, and the local archive means you keep your own copy first.
