Remove All Your Facebook Tags at Once
Other people put your name on their photos, posts, and comments, and those tags stay attached to your profile for years. Redact removes all of those tags at once from your own device. Choose post and comment tags, photo tags, or both, look over the list, and your name comes off each one while the other person's post stays where it is.

Why remove old tags
A tag is someone else's post with your name on it
You chose what you posted. You didn't choose most of what you're tagged in. Tags build up over the years, and each one points back to your profile.
You didn't pick the photo
A tag puts your name on a picture someone else decided to share. The party in 2013, the bad angle, the group shot with people you no longer speak to. Removing the tag takes your name off it.
Old tags stick around
Exes, old coworkers, and friends you've drifted from may all still have you tagged in something. Old tags can stay on your account for years.
Deleting your own posts doesn't reach them
Clearing your timeline removes what you posted. Tags sit on other people's posts, so they need a pass of their own. That pass is the Tags category.
What a tag removal does
Your name comes off, and their post stays up
Redact reads the tags Facebook lists for your account and removes them for you, one after another, in a single run. It only removes the tag of you. The photo, post, or comment belongs to the person who shared it, so it stays on their profile.
Facebook keeps that list in two parts, and Redact follows it. Posts and Comment tags are the times someone named you in a post or a comment. Photo tags are your tagged photos, the pictures other people put your name on. Both are ticked to begin with, and the desktop app's Advanced form lets you untick either one. Everything runs on your own device, and a Preview shows you the list before any tag is removed.

What you can choose
Two kinds of tag, and a date range if you want one
Tags is the shortest form in Redact's Facebook tool. You choose which kind of tag to clear, and in the desktop app you can set a date range to narrow the run.
Date range
In the desktop app, set a date range on the first screen and Redact removes only the tags from that window. Leave it open and the run covers every tag of the kinds you ticked. A run on a phone always covers every date.
No keywords or keep list
The Tags tab has no keyword boxes. To hold on to a few tags, run Review & Delete and leave those ones out.
Pick how it runs
Look first, then take the tags off
Preview Mode
Lists every tag Redact found without removing any. Run this first, since most people have more tags than they remember.
Deletion Mode
Removes all the tags of the kinds you ticked, in one run.
Review & Delete
Shows you the list and lets you remove tags one at a time, or select a batch and remove those.
Schedule Deletion
Repeats the run on the interval you pick, so tags added after today come off too.
Step-by-step guide
How to remove all your Facebook tags at once
Setup takes a couple of minutes, and the steps are the same whether you have twenty tags or two thousand.
- 1
Download Redact for free
Download for your device →Install Redact on your device. It runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux, plus iOS and Android.
- 2
Connect your Facebook account
Open Redact, choose Facebook, and link your account securely. Your credentials are sent straight to Facebook and never touch a Redact server.
- 3
Choose Tags
Pick Tags on the first screen to clear both kinds together. In the desktop app you can set a date range there if you only want the tags from certain years. Leave it open to remove them all.
- One kind only: open the Advanced form, go to the Tags tab, and untick Posts and Comment tags or Photo tags.
- On a phone: choose Tags. Both kinds are removed together, from every date.
Heads up: removing Facebook tags needs Premium. Redact's free plan covers your posts and comments from the last 30 days.
- 4
Preview the list
Run a Preview to see every tag Redact found. Nothing is removed at this point, so you can check the list and change which kinds are ticked.
- 5
Remove the tags
Start the run and keep the app open while Redact works down the list. If you'd like to approve each tag yourself, use Review & Delete. There's a longer walkthrough in the Facebook tags guide.
The list of what you're tagged in stays with you
Redact talks to Facebook straight from your computer or phone. Your login and your tags never pass through a Redact server, and you can disconnect Facebook as soon as the run is done.
