Redact Discord plugin
Delete your Discord messages right where you chat. Turn on the Redact Discord plugin to add a Redact button to Discord's conversation headers. Use it to delete messages, preview what matches, connect the Discord account you're signed into, or open Premium disappearing mode. Your Redact app handles the work locally, without sending requests through Redact servers.
Available on
Nothing extra to download. The Discord plugin is built into Redact. Turn it on from the Plugins page and the button appears right inside Discord.
Turn on the Discord plugin
- Open the Redact desktop app and sign in.
- Click your account menu in the bottom-left corner.
- Choose Plugins.
- Turn on the Discord plugin.
- Fully close and reopen Discord.
- Click the new Redact button in any channel or DM header.
If the button ever disappears after a Discord update, reopen Discord or hit Patch now on the Plugins page to bring it back.
Enable Discord plugin
Adds a Redact button inside Discord so you can clean up your messages without leaving the app.
A Redact button appears in every channel and DM header. After Discord updates itself, reopen Discord for the button to return.
Connect your Discord account
Use the plugin while signed in to a Discord account that isn't linked to Redact yet, and it offers to connect it. One click links the account so Redact can delete messages for it, and your Discord login stays on this device.
Connect this Discord account to Redact?
You're signed in to Discord as Redacto, but it isn't connected to Redact yet. Connect it and Redact can delete and manage messages for this account. Your Discord login stays on this device.
Delete or preview messages
Click the Redact button, then Delete messages, to open a simple dialog. Pick the channels or DMs you want to clean up, then send the request to your Redact app to finish.
Want to look before you delete? Leave the delete switch off and Redact just shows how many messages match, without removing anything. On the free plan this covers your last 30 days.

Free covers the last 30 days. Upgrade to Premium for your full history and date filters.
This request opens in your Redact desktop app, where you confirm before anything is deleted.
Filter by date
Premium adds a "Filter by date" switch inside the delete dialog. Turn it on, pick a start and end date, and Redact only clears messages from that window, anywhere in your full history rather than just the last 30 days. Upgrade to Premium to reach your full history.

Pick channels and conversations
The Channels button opens a picker. Search when the list gets long, tap "Select all", and choose any mix of channels, threads, forums, DMs, or group DMs.
Each row labels its type so you always know what you are about to include.

Disappearing mode
Premium only. Set a recurring schedule on a channel, DM, group DM, or whole server. Choose how long to keep messages, whether to only apply going forward, and whether to run more often for short windows.
Enable ghost sidebar markers to quickly see which channels, DMs, or group DMs have disappearing mode turned on. You can show or hide those channel markers from the Redact menu at any time.
This is a scheduled check, not real-time: it runs on this device while the Redact app is open.

Only delete new messages
Leave older messages untouched; only delete ones sent from now on.
Run more often
Check several times a day instead of once. Available when keeping for 24 hours or less.
Your desktop app runs the schedule on this device while it is open.
See your deleted messages in place
With Local Archive turned on, messages you deleted with Redact reappear right where they were, shown faded with a small "Redact deleted" label. The name, time, and text stay readable, so the conversation still makes sense.
Only you see them, and only where you still have access. They are not restored on Discord, and you can toggle them on or off from the Redact menu.

Frequently asked questions
The plugin is built into Redact, so there is nothing separate to install. In the Redact app, open your account menu, go to Plugins, and turn on the Discord plugin. Then fully close and reopen Discord for the Redact button to appear in your channel header. New to Redact? Download it free first.
No. The plugin talks straight to Discord from your device, and your Redact desktop app does the deleting locally. There is no Redact server in between, and your Discord login stays on this device.
Yes. The button, menu, channel picker, and viewing your Redact-deleted messages are free, covering your last 30 days of history. Premium and Ultimate extend deletion to your full history, add the custom date-range filter, unlock disappearing mode including ghost sidebar markers and channel markers, and connect more Discord accounts.
The core plugin is usable for free, but Premium lifts its limits. Free deletions reach your last 30 days; Premium and Ultimate reach your full Discord history, add the "Filter by date" switch, unlock disappearing mode including ghost sidebar markers and channel markers, and connect more Discord accounts (2 on Premium, 5 on Ultimate).
On the free plan the plugin reaches your last 30 days of messages. To clear older history, upgrade to Premium: it removes the 30-day limit so a deletion spans your full Discord history. Premium also adds a date filter, so you can target a specific range (a start date, optionally an end date) instead of clearing everything.
Yes, on a paid plan. Free links the one Discord account you are signed in to. Premium connects 2 Discord accounts and Ultimate connects 5, so you can clean up an alt or a second profile from the same Redact app. Your logins stay on your device on every plan.
Yes, and it is free. Leave the Delete switch off and the plugin runs a preview: it counts and highlights the messages that match without removing anything. Free previews cover your last 30 days, and on Premium the same preview spans your full history.
With Local Archive on (it is enabled by default), Redact keeps a copy of what it previews or deletes on your device only. Inside Discord those messages reappear in place, faded with a "Redact deleted" label that only you can see, and you can toggle that view from the Redact menu. They are not restored for anyone else, and nothing is uploaded to a Redact server.
No. Disappearing mode is a recurring scheduled check, not a real-time deleter. It runs on this device while the Redact app is open.
Yes. The plugin is just a button inside Discord; the Redact desktop app does the actual deleting. For a one-off cleanup, have the app running when you send the request. Disappearing mode's recurring clears also only run while the Redact app is open, so leave it running for schedules to keep firing.
