Questions about Instagram post dates
Paste the post's link into this Instagram date extractor. The code in the link is the post's ID, and the date is built into it. The tool reads it in your browser and shows the exact date and time in UTC, down to the second.
Yes. A reel's link has the same kind of code as a post's, so paste an instagram.com/reel/ link the same way. IGTV links and story links that end in a long number work too.
The date does. It comes from the link itself, so the post doesn't need to be public or still up. If you have the link, you have the date. The preview from Show the post comes from Instagram, which only shows public posts that are still up.
Instagram decides which posts it lets other sites show. An account can turn off embedding for its posts, and when it has, the preview says the post may have been removed even though it's public. The date above is still right, since it comes from the link.
A share link stands in for the post and sends you on to it, and a web page isn't allowed to follow that. Open the share link, wait for the address with /p/ or /reel/ in it, then paste that address here.
No. The date is worked out in your browser from the link you paste, and nothing goes to Instagram for it. If you press Show the post, your browser loads the preview Instagram offers so other sites can embed its posts. There's no login and no scraping, and nothing goes through Redact's servers at any point.
