Delete Your Entire Slack History

People leave jobs. Their Slack messages stay behind, every channel quip and midnight DM, sitting in a workspace they no longer control. Redact wipes your whole Slack history in one run, channels and direct messages together, before you hand back that work laptop.

Why wipe it all?

You wrote it for that job, not for posterity

Slack history is context that expired. The inside jokes belong to a team that's dissolved, the complaints belong to a manager you no longer have, and the 2am messages belong to a version of you on a deadline.

01

None of it needs to outlive your work badge

A full wipe is the honest option when curating feels impossible. Years of workspace chatter is too much to review message by message.

02

Don't leave work gossip behind

Clear it out with Redact's Slack deletion tools before the account is deactivated and your ability to clean it goes with you.

03

Deleted is deleted

The full wipe needs every channel and DM selected, then a mode. Just respect the one rule.

One button, four postures

Straight to deletion mode, if you're ready

Select every channel and every DM, leave the filters open, pick a mode, start. Preview lists what the wipe would take with it. Review & Delete lets you approve the batches yourself on the way down to zero. Deletion is the real thing, irreversible from the moment it starts.

The real thing. Irreversible from the moment it starts.

Schedule

Set the wipe to repeat on a schedule, clearing anything new since last time.

Offboarding, properly

The whole history, four steps

Install Redact, connect the workspace, select every channel and DM, and wipe it.

  1. 1

    Get the app

redact.dev/download, and it costs nothing to install.

    Download for your device →
  2. 2

    Sign in to the workspace

You sign in to Slack from your own machine. Your login goes straight to Slack and never touches a Redact server.

  3. 3

    Select every channel and DM

Open the channel selector and select all channels, then all DMs. Leave date and keyword filters open, and keep messages and files selected. Then go to the mode picker at the bottom.

Heads up: Slack cleanup is available on Ultimate and higher plans.

  4. 4

    Preview, then take it down

Read the list once. Then let deletion mode walk the history to zero.

No message content hits a Redact server

The wipe runs on your machine. No message content, workspace details, or credentials touch a Redact server. When it's done, disconnect and be done with it.
