Delete Your Pinterest Search History

Pins show what you saved. Searches show what you went looking for, and Pinterest keeps the recent ones on your account, ready to appear under the search box. Redact works through that history and deletes it in one run.

Why clear it

What you searched says more than what you saved

Searches are typed in private

A board gets a tidy name and a cover. A search is whatever you typed at the time, health worries and gift ideas included.

They come back on screen

Recent searches are offered again when the search box is opened, wherever your account is logged in.

A shared device shares them

Anyone who borrows a laptop or tablet that's logged in to your Pinterest can see them too.

How the run works

Pinterest shows a few at a time, so Redact keeps going

Pinterest only reveals a limited batch of your recent searches at once. Older ones appear as the newer ones are deleted. A Delete run handles that for you. It clears the batch it can see, checks again, clears what surfaced, and stops when nothing is left. For the same reason, Preview and Review & Delete can only show the first batch and not the full history.

  • Whole history
  • Batch after batch
  • No filters to set
  • On-device

Run modes

What each mode can and can't show you

Preview Mode

Lists the recent searches Pinterest is showing right now and deletes nothing. It's a sample of the history, not all of it.

Review & Delete

Lets you tick searches from that same first batch. Good for removing a handful of recent ones.

Deletion Mode

Clears the full history. There are no date or keyword filters on this tab, so every search goes.

Schedule Deletion

Repeats the clear-out on a timetable, so the history doesn't build back up.

Step by step

How to clear your Pinterest search history

There's nothing to configure, so this one is short.

  1. 1

    Install Redact

Download it from redact.dev/download for Windows, macOS, or Linux.

    Download for your device →
  2. 2

    Connect your Pinterest account

Open Pinterest in Redact and log in. Your password goes to Pinterest, not to Redact.

  3. 3

    Open the Search History tab

It's the last of the four Pinterest tabs, and it has no filters to fill in.

Heads up: Search History is a Premium tab.

  4. 4

    Run Deletion Mode

Start the run and leave it going. It deletes the searches Pinterest shows, then the older ones that surface, until the list comes back empty.

What you searched for stays between you and Pinterest

The run happens inside Redact, on your own device. Your search terms aren't uploaded to Redact's servers, and you can disconnect Pinterest whenever you like.
