Your subscriptions decay, and your feed decays along with them
You subscribed because one video was good. Nothing checks in later to ask whether the channel still is, so the list only ever grows and the signal in it only ever drops. The algorithm recommends new stuff for you based partly on who you're subscribed to.

Redact reads the channels you're subscribed to and drops them one after another, working from your own machine and counting down as the list shrinks. Of everything YouTube exposes, this is the category with the bluntest controls, and there is a reason for that.
A subscription carries no date and no video title. YouTube never says when you subscribed, and a channel has no words behind it to match on, so the keyword box has nothing to bite on. The date range is worse than useless here: leave it blank. Redact will not delete something it cannot place in your window, so a run with any date set comes back with nothing at all. It is also why this sits on Premium instead of the free thirty-day tier, since a free window needs a date to measure.

What applies here
This one is deliberately blunt
Subscriptions are the only YouTube category with nothing for a filter to grip. Knowing why saves you setting a date range and wondering where your run went.
Leave the dates blank
Not optional. With no subscribe date to check against, Redact excludes every channel rather than guess, so any date you set returns nothing.
No keyword matching
The keyword box matches a video's title, and a channel subscription has no video behind it, so it can't be used to pick channels out.
Choose them by hand instead
Select and Delete is the real filter for this category. Preview the list, then keep the channels you'd still subscribe to today.

How to mass unsubscribe from YouTube channels
There's nothing to configure here beyond deciding whether you're keeping any. Mass unsubscribing is a Premium feature.

Download Redact for free
Download for your device →Install Redact on your computer and create a free account. YouTube cleanups run in the desktop app on Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Connect your Google account
Open Redact, choose YouTube, and sign in. The login goes straight to Google in a browser window Redact opens for you, and your password never touches a Redact server.

Tick Subscriptions
Select Subscriptions under Content Types. There's nothing else to set.
- Leave the date range empty. Set one and the run matches nothing, because no channel can be placed inside it.
- Skip the keyword box. There's no video title behind a channel for it to match.
Good to know: unsubscribing in bulk needs Premium whatever the size of your list, because there is no date on a subscription for a free window to measure against.

Run a preview to see every channel you're subscribed to in one place. This is worth doing even if you're clearing all of it, because it's usually the first time anyone reads the whole list.

Yes, through Select and Delete. Preview the list, untick the channels you want to hold onto, and Redact unsubscribes from the rest. That is the only way to narrow it: the keyword box has nothing to match on, and a date range empties the run rather than trimming it.
Because the free tier is a 30-day window and a subscription has no date attached to it. There's no way to tell a recent subscription from an old one, so there's nothing for the free window to cover, and the category needs a premium plan instead.
Not individually. Creators see their subscriber count, not a list of who left, so an unsubscribe reads to them as a number moving. Nobody gets a notification.
No, they're unrelated. Unsubscribing only changes who you follow. If you want the record of what you watched gone as well, that's the watch history run, with your searches alongside it.
