Genealogy and DNA services handle a different category of consumer-privacy risk than people-search aggregators. Ancestry holds physical DNA samples, sequencing results, and family-tree data inside paid accounts; Archives.com is an Ancestry-owned subscription brand offering a lower-priced tier into the same data backend; FamilySearch (operated by the LDS Church as a free non-profit) holds the largest genealogical record collection in the world and partners with the for-profit sites for record exchange; FamilyTreeNow operates as a free public people-search site that markets itself with a genealogy framing. Opt-out paths differ significantly: account deletion plus separate DNA sample-destruction for Ancestry, the Archives.com living-person suppression form (within 30 days, by its own copy) for the Archives brand, the central LDS Data Privacy Office for FamilySearch, a public suppression form for FamilyTreeNow.
