Instagram Reels have taken over the platform, offering short-form video content that can go viral fast. But over time, not every Reel ages well. Maybe you were testing out trends, posting edgy content, reposting content from other apps, or just having fun with filters. Whatever the reason, cleaning up your Reels can help you stay professional, organized, and in control of your digital presence.

Manually removing Instagram Reels one by one can be frustrating and time-consuming. That’s where Redact comes in.

Why Clean Up Your Instagram Reels?

Reels are public by default and often reach far beyond your usual followers. This extra reach can be great, but it also means old or off-brand content sticks around longer than you might expect.

Here are some reasons people choose to clean up their Reels:

  • Reels made for trends that are now outdated
  • Content created in a rush or as a joke
  • Posts that no longer match your personal or professional brand
  • Low-performing videos cluttering your profile
  • Videos with sensitive or personal info

If your account has grown or changed, your old Reels might not reflect who you are anymore. Deleting them in bulk can be a fast way to take control of your public profile.

How to Bulk Delete Instagram Reels with Redact

Redact makes it easy to remove your Reels based on your own rules. You don’t need to scroll through hundreds of videos or guess which ones to remove. Just log into Redact, connect your Instagram account, and follow these steps:

Note – to delete Instagram Reels with Redact, you need a premium subscription. You can try Redact for free on Facebook, Reddit, Twitter, and Discord.

1. Download Redact.dev

Go to redact.dev and download the app for Windows or macOS. Create an account for free.

Go to redact.dev and click Download located in the top right corner

2. Connect Your Instagram Account

Once you launch Redact.dev and log in, choose Instagram from the list of supported platforms.

You’ll be prompted to log in through Instagram. Your login details are never seen or stored by Redact. They’re sent directly from your device to Instagram, just like a saved login in your browser. Everything stays local to your device.

3. Choose Reels as the Content Type

After logging in, select “Reels” as the content type you want to target. This tells Redact to only look at video posts created through Instagram’s Reels feature, keeping your photo posts, carousels, and stories untouched.

Fine-Tune Your Deletion With Filters

Redact gives you powerful options to narrow down which Reels you want to delete.

1. Filter by Date Range

If you only want to delete Reels from a certain time period:

  • Choose a start date to delete content made after that point
  • Choose an end date to delete content made before that point
  • Use the calendar tool to quickly pick a specific day, month, or year

To reset the filter, click the red “Reset” button.

The Redact App allows you to delete pictures and comments by specific date ranges. Deletion can be specified by start date (only delete after this date) or end date (only delete before this date). When you press the calendar icon, a calendar will appear. By default, it’ll take you to the current date, but you can easily change this. You can click the title at the top to select from a list of months, or click it twice to select from a list of nearby years. Alternatively, you could click the left and right arrows to skip around to adjacent months. When you have the correct month and year, you just click the day and you’re done. If you want to start over, just tap the reset button in red text.

2. Delete Reels by Caption Text

You can set Redact to remove Reels that include specific words or phrases in the caption. This is useful for deleting videos tied to certain hashtags, locations, or events.

Example: Remove any Reels that mention “meme”, “2022”, or other content you no longer want on your profile.

3. Delete Reels by Like Count

Redact lets you target Reels based on the number of likes they received. You can set a minimum or maximum threshold to delete low-performing or overly viral content depending on your goals.

Example: Delete Reels with fewer than 25 likes to remove content that didn’t land well.

4. Delete Reels by Comment Count

Just like likes, you can also filter Reels by how many comments they received. This can help you remove posts that became too noisy or received unwanted attention.

Example: Delete Reels with more than 100 comments if you’re trying to remove controversial content.

5. Preserve Reels with Certain Words in the Caption

Not everything needs to go. Redact allows you to preserve Reels that include specific keywords in the caption, so you can protect meaningful or successful content.

Example: Keep all Reels with the word “collab” or “#ad” while clearing out the rest.

6. Choose Your Deletion Mode

Redact offers four deletion modes to fit your needs – so you can mass delete Reels with as much (or as little) precision as you want.

  • Preview Mode – this lets you see all results based on your filters, before you delete anything.
  • Select & Delete Mode – this lets you preview all Reels, and bulk-select as many as you want for permanent deletion.
  • Deletion Mode – instantly erases all Reels based on your filters.
  • Schedule Deletion – allows you to automate ongoing Reels deletion based on your filters.

We recommend previewing before running a full deletion to avoid accidental

Want to simply delete your entire email history? Want to completely remove all Carousels you ever sent or received? The Redact App can easily do that for you. To delete all emails in your account, just skip the settings options and go straight to one of the options at the very bottom. Those options are called "deletion mode", "preview mode", and "select and delete mode". Take note that content deletion is irreversible when you choose "deletion mode". Deletion mode is recommended only if you have used the Redact Software previously and are comfortable with how it works. Once you choose deletion mode, your emails will be gone forever. Instead, use preview mode to do a dry run and ensure your settings are correct, then go to deletion mode.

Why Use Redact for Reel Deletion?

Instagram does not offer a built-in way to delete Reels in bulk or sort them by likes, comments, or caption content. Doing it manually takes time, effort, and lots of scrolling.

Redact gives you an efficient way to take control of your Reels without the headache. You can preview the content before it’s deleted, schedule regular cleanups, and use advanced filters to make smarter choices.

Whether you’re managing a personal account or running a business profile, Redact helps you stay in control of your digital image.
