Carousel posts on Instagram are a great way to share multiple photos or videos in one post, but over time, they can clutter your profile or include content you no longer want visible. Whether you are cleaning up your online image or just making your feed more intentional, Redact makes it easy to delete Instagram carousel posts in bulk and on your terms.

This guide will show you how to quickly find and remove carousel posts based on captions, likes, comments, or specific filters, all without endless scrolling.

Note – to delete Instagram content with Redact, you need a premium subscription. You can try Redact for free on Facebook, Reddit, Twitter, and Discord.

What Is a Carousel Post?

A carousel post on Instagram includes two or more images or videos that users can swipe through in a single post. They are commonly used for sharing multiple angles of a moment, tutorials, or photo dumps and they can build up quickly and become a headache to manage manually.

How to Use Redact to Delete Carousel Posts

Redact’s new Instagram integration includes dedicated filters to help you clean up carousel content quickly and easily. Here is how to do it:

1. Download Redact.dev

Go to redact.dev and download the app for Windows or macOS. Create an account for free.

Go to redact.dev and click Download located in the top right corner

Redact also supports iOS and Android devices all from a single account & subscription.

2. Connect Your Instagram Account

Once you launch Redact.dev and log in, choose Instagram from the list of supported platforms.

You’ll be prompted to log in through Instagram. Your login details are never seen or stored by Redact. They’re sent directly from your device to Instagram, just like a saved login in your browser. Everything stays local to your device.

3. Select “Carousel” in the Content Filter

When setting up a deletion task in Redact, choose “Carousel” as the content type. This limits the cleanup to posts that include multiple photos or videos.

This is a useful first step if you want to delete only carousel-style posts while keeping single-image or video posts intact.

Additional Filters You Can Use

Once you have selected Carousel, you can apply several other filters to fine-tune your deletion process. More advanced filters are on the “Advanced Form”.

1. Filter by Date Range

If you only want to delete Carousels from a certain time period:

  • Choose a start date to delete content made after that point
  • Choose an end date to delete content made before that point
  • Use the calendar tool to quickly pick a specific day, month, or year

To reset the filter, click the red “Reset” button.

The Redact App allows you to delete pictures and comments by specific date ranges. Deletion can be specified by start date (only delete after this date) or end date (only delete before this date). When you press the calendar icon, a calendar will appear. By default, it’ll take you to the current date, but you can easily change this. You can click the title at the top to select from a list of months, or click it twice to select from a list of nearby years. Alternatively, you could click the left and right arrows to skip around to adjacent months. When you have the correct month and year, you just click the day and you’re done. If you want to start over, just tap the reset button in red text.

2. Filter by Caption Text

You can choose to delete posts that contain specific words or phrases in the caption. This is helpful for removing posts from past trends, events, or specific hashtags.

Example: Delete carousel posts with captions that include “Throwback”, “2018 trip”, or other keywords that no longer reflect your current brand or lifestyle.

Select what post you want to delete based off of the text in the caption

3. Filter by Number of Likes

Redact also allows you to filter posts by engagement. You can delete carousel posts with a minimum or maximum number of likes.

Example: Remove carousel posts with fewer than 10 likes to clean up underperforming content.

4. Filter by Comment Count

In the same way, you can set filters based on the number of comments on each post. Whether you’re targeting high-activity posts or those that got little attention, you are in control.

Example: Delete carousel posts with zero comments, or clean up posts with more than 100 comments if they became controversial.

5. Preserve Posts with Specific Captions

Not everything needs to go. Redact allows you to preserve posts that contain specific words or phrases in the caption. This way, you can protect meaningful content while still removing clutter.

Example: Keep any carousel posts that include the word “wedding” or “graduation” in the caption while deleting others.

Select what type of caption you would want to keep

6. Choose Your Deletion Mode

Redact offers four deletion modes to fit your needs – so you can mass delete reactions with as much (or as little) precision as you want.

  • Preview Mode – this lets you see all results based on your filters, before you delete anything.
  • Select & Delete Mode – this lets you preview all Carousels, and bulk-select as many as you want for permanent deletion.
  • Deletion Mode – instantly erases all Carousels based on your filters.
  • Schedule Deletion – allows you to automate ongoing Carousels deletion based on your filters.

We recommend previewing before running a full deletion to avoid accidental

Want to simply delete your entire email history? Want to completely remove all Carousels you ever sent or received? The Redact App can easily do that for you. To delete all emails in your account, just skip the settings options and go straight to one of the options at the very bottom. Those options are called "deletion mode", "preview mode", and "select and delete mode". Take note that content deletion is irreversible when you choose "deletion mode". Deletion mode is recommended only if you have used the Redact Software previously and are comfortable with how it works. Once you choose deletion mode, your emails will be gone forever. Instead, use preview mode to do a dry run and ensure your settings are correct, then go to deletion mode.

Why Use Redact Instead of Doing It Manually?

Manually going through your Instagram feed and deleting posts one by one takes time, energy, and endless scrolling. Instagram does not offer bulk deletion tools natively, and there are no filters to sort content by likes, comments, or captions. Redact solves that by giving you full control over what stays and what goes — all in one place.

You can preview everything before deleting, use advanced filters, and run cleanups on a schedule to keep your profile sharp over time.
