How to remove yourself from AtData

AtData is, hands down, one of the easiest opt-outs in this whole directory. We tested it ourselves, and it is a single page, seven fields, one submit button, no email verification, no link to click later. You're suppressed on the spot. The form lives at instantdata.atdata.com/optout and it covers the four big CCPA categories (targeted advertising, sale, profiling, direct marketing) in one shot. Heads up: it does not propagate to AtData's new parent Experian - AtData and Experian run on separate compliance footings, so the Experian credit file, ConsumerView marketing data, and OptOutPrescreen prescreened-offer lists each need their own opt-out. Hat tip to AtData for actually making the AtData side painless.

The opt-out's stated scope, in AtData's own words. The intro text at the top of the form spells out exactly what you're opting out of: (1) sharing personal data about you for targeted advertising or cross-context behavioral advertising; (2) selling personal data about you; (3) using personal data about you for profiling for decisions that have significant effects; (4) processing personal data about you for direct marketing purposes. That tracks the four categories CCPA / CPRA care most about, so a single submission is the strongest form of AtData-side suppression they offer.

This opt-out does not propagate to Experian. AtData is owned by Experian (the deal closed February 24, 2026), but the two companies operate on separate compliance footings. The AtData suppression covers AtData's email-anchored graph - it does not automatically remove you from Experian's FCRA-regulated credit file, from Experian Marketing Services' separate ConsumerView product, or from the jointly-operated OptOutPrescreen.com prescreened-offer portal. See the Experian profile for those flows.

Prereqs

What you'll need before you start

3 things
  • The email address you want suppressed. This should be the real email address you actually use - the one AtData most likely has in its graph. If you have multiple addresses, each needs its own submission. (AtData claims roughly 98% coverage of active North American emails, so whatever address gets the most marketing email is the one to start with.)

  • Your current postal address. The form asks for street, city, state, country, and ZIP. AtData uses this to match against postal-append records in their graph. If you've moved recently, submit your current address; if you want to suppress an old address you no longer live at, run the opt-out a second time with those details.

  • Your real name. First and last name fields. Don't use a pseudonym here - AtData matches on the actual name fields to find your record.

Fill out the form at instantdata.atdata.com/optout

Open instantdata.atdata.com/optout. The page is titled "Opt Out of AtData Services" with the four-category scope statement directly underneath.

Fill out every field. There are seven below the page heading:

  • Email - the address you want suppressed
  • First Name
  • Last Name
  • Street Address
  • City
  • State
  • Country (dropdown - select your country)
  • Zip / Postal Code

When we tested this form, there was no visible captcha in the rendered form area - just the fields and a submit button below them. Scroll to the bottom and click Submit.

The page acknowledges the request on the spot. No confirmation email arrives; you're done in that moment.

Screenshot of the AtData opt-out form at instantdata.atdata.com/optout. Page heading reads 'Opt Out of AtData Services' followed by a paragraph: 'Please complete the form below to submit a request to opt out of the following AtData services: (1) sharing personal data about you for targeted advertising or cross-context behavioral advertising; (2) selling personal data about you; (3) using personal data about you for profiling for decisions that have significant effects; or (4) processing personal data about you for direct marketing purposes.' Below sit seven fields with labels Email, First Name, Last Name, Street Address, City, State, Country (a Select Country dropdown), and Zip/Postal Code.
One form, one click. The introductory paragraph spells out the four CCPA categories the opt-out covers - same scope as a comprehensive state-privacy-law deletion request.

After you submit

What to expect post-submission

Immediate

AtData's flow is unusual in this directory because there is no email-verification step and no follow-up form. The on-page acknowledgment is the confirmation. You should not expect any further communication from AtData unless you escalate separately via privacy@atdata.com.

  • No confirmation email arrives - and that's normal. Other data brokers in this directory (RocketReach, USA People Search, etc.) gate suppression behind a verification link; AtData doesn't. The absence of a follow-up email is by design, not a failure.

  • Save the on-page confirmation for your records if you want a timestamp. Take a screenshot or save the page; AtData's own page doesn't issue a unique reference number.

  • Statutory ceiling. Even though the page processes immediately, AtData remains subject to the CCPA / CPRA 45-day verification window for California residents (extendable once to 90 days with written notice). If you don't see the effect on downstream marketing within ~60 days, escalate.

  • Downstream caches. AtData licenses data to other marketers and fraud-decisioning systems. Even after your AtData record is suppressed, downstream customers may still hold cached copies of data previously appended from AtData. The opt-out stops new data from being sent; it can't recall what's already in customer systems.

For other data-subject-rights requests, email privacy@atdata.com or call +1 (833) 293-0973. Postal mail goes to AtData, Attn: Privacy Officer, 770 Legacy Place, 2nd Floor, Dedham, MA 02026 (the old FreshAddress office). The single-form opt-out covers the four "sale / share / profile / market" categories; the longer-form rights (access, correction, full deletion with verification) run through the privacy team directly.

Troubleshooting

If it doesn't work

Common situations
  • The form errors when you submit. Most often a missing dropdown selection. The Country field is a dropdown that defaults to "Select Country" - if you skip it, submission fails. Make sure every field has a value.

  • You have multiple email addresses to suppress. Run the form once per address. AtData matches on the email field, so submitting email A doesn't automatically suppress email B even if both are tied to the same name and address.

  • You've moved recently and want to suppress both addresses. Run the form twice - once with your current address, once with the previous one. AtData's graph keeps historical postal records linked to the same identity.

  • You want to opt out of Experian's credit-side or marketing-side data too. AtData and Experian are operationally separate despite the corporate ownership. See the Experian profile for the five-channel Experian opt-out flow, and visit OptOutPrescreen.com for the joint 4-CRA prescreened-offer suppression.

  • You don't hear back in 45+ days. The single-form opt-out doesn't produce a follow-up by design, so "no response" is the default outcome - not a sign of failure. But if downstream marketing tied to AtData enrichment continues for 60+ days with no change, email privacy@atdata.com referencing your submission date and the CCPA / CPRA statutory deadline.

  • Your email reappears in marketing append data later. AtData refreshes its graph continuously from licensed and partner data sources. A successful opt-out today doesn't prevent a future data refresh from re-adding you to the graph if your email surfaces in a new partner feed. Re-submission is the maintenance pattern - we recommend yearly.

Stay off

Keep your data out of AtData (and the broader email-intelligence ecosystem)

Source-side prevention
  • Re-run the opt-out annually. AtData continuously refreshes its graph from partner data feeds. An opt-out today doesn't prevent a future refresh from re-indexing you. Annual re-submission is the standard maintenance cycle.

  • Watch the Experian side too. AtData is one slice of the broader Experian data estate. To address the credit file, marketing data, and prescreened-offer lists, use the Experian removal flow (five separate channel-specific opt-outs) and OptOutPrescreen.com.

  • AtData is one of several email-intelligence brokers. Opting out of AtData doesn't propagate to ZeroBounce, Kickbox, NeverBounce, BriteVerify, Webbula, Emailable, or the broader identity-resolution peers (LiveRamp, Acxiom, Epsilon). Each has its own suppression path; the data backends are not shared.

  • Address the source. AtData's data flows from ecommerce checkouts, loyalty program signups, fintech onboarding, and brand newsletters you've subscribed to over the years - anywhere you've handed an email address to a brand that licenses email-data services. Using email-forwarding aliases (SimpleLogin, Apple Hide My Email, Firefox Relay) for every new brand signup is the durable intervention. The brokers downstream can only append what's been signed up using a stable identifier.

  • Use Global Privacy Control. Enable GPC in Firefox (built-in) or via a browser extension in Chrome / Edge to set a standing opt-out signal under CCPA / CPRA and similar state laws. It doesn't suppress AtData's existing record but it covers the day-to-day "do not sell / share" obligations on every site visit.

If your address changes, rerun the opt-out. AtData's value to its customers is freshness - newly indexed postal and email records are the most marketable. A move, a job change, or a new email address are the most common reasons a previously-suppressed identity returns to the graph.
