Its own terms warn that reports can carry records that were expunged or sealed.

Person Searchers sells background reports by subscription. Type a name, get a list of matching people, then pay to see the full file. The site itself tells you almost nothing about who runs it - every URL, including the privacy policy and the opt-out page, returns the same 3,927-byte empty JavaScript shell to anything that isn't a browser, and there's no robots.txt. What fills the gap is the regulatory paper trail, which is unusually clear.

The company on record is Private Records LLC, an active Florida LLC formed July 9, 2020, document number L20000196951, at 1317 Edgewater Dr #1255 in Orlando. That address and entity name also appear on the operator's California data-broker registration, which lists four websites on one filing - privaterecords.net, peoplesearch123.com, backgroundcheckers.net, and personsearchers.com - with support@privaterecords.net and (888) 270-9304 as the public contact. The older California Attorney General registration page for this operator still shows privaterecords.net alone, which is a snapshot from 2021 rather than a contradiction. The current CPPA registry is the one that covers this domain, and we read it from the registry CSV directly.

The rendered site claims the company was "started in 2020 by data scientists, engineers and customer service professionals" and advertises "over 12 billion public records," with a live counter that read 17,320,128 searches this year when we looked. The 2020 date matches the Florida filing.

Where it gets murkier is control. Florida's record names the authorized member as HB Services Holdings LLC - another company, not a person - and we found no registration under that exact name. So the chain stops one link up, which is normal for this family of sites and worth knowing before you decide who to escalate to.

The MC2 connection is documented. In August 2024, security researcher JayeLTee found an exposed, passwordless database holding background-check records on more than 100 million Americans plus 2.3 million customer accounts, with every user record tagged to one of fifteen brands. DataBreaches.net published the enumerated list and personsearchers.com is on it. No corporate filing we can cite links Private Records LLC to MC2 Data, LLC - what connects them is the leaked backend, the shared site template, and a BBB record described in the Network section below.

The subscription is the product. The terms describe a five-day trial at $1.00 or $14.95 depending on the offer you land on, converting to $49.97 a month on the same card, billed on the hour five days from when you registered. Fees are non-refundable by the terms' own wording. There's a /refund-policy page, but it contains no refund terms - the actual money language lives on /terms.

Its own terms admit the reports can be wrong in a specific way. The site states that reports "may include records that have been expunged, sealed, or otherwise have become inaccessible to the public." If a court sealed something about you, this site says outright that its file might still show it.

Two different phone numbers, two different jobs. The number on the California filing, (888) 270-9304, is the operator's registered privacy contact and reaches Private Records LLC. The number in this site's terms, (833) 567-9375, is the billing and cancellation line. Use the second one for money questions and the first for privacy-rights escalation.

The billing line is also another company's registered contact. (833) 567-9375 is the number The People Searchers LLC - a separate company in Boynton Beach, Florida - gives on its own current California data-broker filing for People Searcher and SecretInfo. No filing documents any relationship between the two LLCs. What links them is a shared phone line, the same page template, and the MC2 backend both sit on.

Private Records LLC's California data-broker registration names four websites, and this is one of them. Beyond that filing sits the wider MC2-linked template family - fifteen brands mapped to one leaked backend, all serving the same empty JavaScript shell to automated readers, this site's shell matching People Searcher and SecretInfo byte for byte.

One filing does not mean one opt-out. All four domains sit on a single California registration, but each runs its own removal form and none of them says a submission clears the others. Removal guidance published elsewhere is explicit that a Person Searchers opt-out covers Person Searchers only. Plan on doing all four.

The strongest documented link to MC2 comes from the BBB, not from a corporate filing. The BBB profile for Private Records LLC lists MC2 Data, LLC as an alternate name, while MC2 Data's own profile lists only PrivateRecords, so the listing runs one way. The two profiles do share a phone number and a named manager. Florida shows them as separately incorporated LLCs in different cities, so this isn't proof of common ownership - but it's the BBB's own linkage rather than an inference we drew, and it's stronger than anything else on the record.

The BBB profile says "out of business" while the site is trading. BBB's status describes what BBB could verify about the company, not whether personsearchers.com is live. The site answers, sells subscriptions, and the operator filed a California registration covering it, so treat the BBB status as a note on the company's responsiveness rather than as evidence the site is gone.

Watch the name when you read reviews elsewhere. People Searcher, PeopleSearch.com, and PeopleSearchNow.com are all different sites with their own review histories, and search results mix them up with this one constantly. Ratings attached to those names don't describe Person Searchers.

The class actions that followed - Smart, Bujok, and Jones, all in the Southern District of Florida - name MC2 Data, LLC as defendant and not Private Records LLC, so this brand sits inside the incident without being a party to the cases about it.

One sourcing note worth carrying. DataBreaches.net's report describes the exposed data as over 1.5 TB covering 2.3 million users and roughly 100 million entries. The widely-repeated 106,316,633 figure comes from the separate Cybernews investigation, and that investigation's shorter list of MC2-operated brands does not include this one.

We found no FTC enforcement action, no state attorney-general action, and no private lawsuit naming Private Records LLC or personsearchers.com. A CourtListener search returns nothing for either name as a party.
