How to remove yourself from Background Checkers
The tell here is which CAPTCHA works. Search for somebody on this site and you get an ordinary one that behaves. Try to remove yourself and you get a scribble with no readable letters in it, then a second one just like it, and the form never submits. Nobody has completed a removal through that page. What's left is a written request to the company that files the domain with California, which is worth sending even though the form isn't worth fighting. If you live in California there is a better first move. Registered brokers have had to process deletion requests routed through the California DROP platform since 1 August 2026, and Private Records LLC is registered, so one request there reaches it whatever its own form is doing.

Removal status
The form cannot be completed
There's a reason to think this is deliberate rather than neglected. The site's own people-search runs a normal, solvable check. The unsolvable pair appears only on the opt-out. A compliance link that can't be finished still looks like a compliance link to anyone auditing from the outside, and the operator gets to point at it. The domain sits on Private Records LLC's California filing, and in 2024 researcher JayeLTee found it among the fifteen brands on MC2 Data, LLC's leaked backend.
The site publishes no postal address and no phone, and support@backgroundcheckers.net has never been confirmed as a monitored inbox, so nothing on the site itself is a route.
Every attempt dies at the same gate. The only removal route on the site is a "Do Not Sell Or Share My Personal Info" link in the footer. It opens an identity form, and submitting it raises a hand-drawn CAPTCHA asking for "the consecutive lowercase letters in order" over an image that contains no readable letters at all. Answering it fails, a second one loads, and that one fails too. The request is never recorded because it is never sent.
What's left
Write to the registered operator instead
backgroundcheckers.net appears on Private Records LLC's current California data-broker registration, filed alongside privaterecords.net, PeopleSearch123 and Person Searchers. The contact on that filing is support@privaterecords.net, and it's the address the working sibling sites route escalations through.
That registration is the thing with weight. A company that registers as a data broker takes on obligations that a broken form on one of its domains doesn't discharge, so a dated written request naming backgroundcheckers.net is worth more than any number of attempts at the CAPTCHA.
Say who you are, give the state your listing shows, name the domain explicitly, and attach a picture of the CAPTCHA you couldn't answer. Ask for deletion. Keep your sent copy.
Manage your expectations on this one. The BBB currently flags the operator entities as out of business while the site carries on serving searches, but Florida still shows Private Records LLC as active, so the listing looks stale. Nobody has confirmed a completed removal by this route. It's the best available channel, not a proven one.

Document your attempts
Capture the stuck CAPTCHA, and note the date, the time and the opt-out URL for each try. A dated record of a removal form that cannot be completed is the useful artifact here, because it is what gives a written request its teeth and what a regulator would want to see.

August 11, 2026 · The broken CAPTCHA gate is described from this site's own opt-out form, but no step captures were kept for it, unlike the sibling sites in this batch. The identical gate is captured on the Check Secrets page, which runs the same form. The written route is read from Private Records LLC's California data-broker registration rather than from a request anyone has seen answered.
