4 Ways to Remove Likes on Facebook, One by One or in Bulk

To remove a like on Facebook, open the post and click the blue Like button a second time. That's all it takes for one. For likes you left months or years ago, your activity log keeps a list of every one, each with an Unlike option and a tick box. Facebook has no button that clears the whole list, so for a long history I'd use Redact, which removes every like in one run.

Manual Slowest Option 1: Remove a like from one post

1. Open the post, photo or reel you liked.
2. Find the Like button under it. On something you've liked, the thumb is solid blue.
3. Click it once. The thumb goes back to a grey outline and your like is removed.

There's no confirm step and no undo beyond liking it again. If you can't find the post any more, use the activity log below. Every row there has a View button that opens the original.

Manual Slow Option 2: Remove old likes in your activity log

Your activity log lists every like and reaction you've left, newest first, so you don't have to hunt for each post.

1. Open your activity log.
2. In the menu on the left, click Your Facebook activity.
3. Click Comments and reactions, then Likes and reactions.
4. To remove one like, click the three dots at the end of its row and choose Unlike.
5. To remove several, tick the box beside each one. A count appears at the top along with Deselect and Remove. Click Remove, then Remove again when Facebook asks.

Unlike from the three dots works straight away, with no confirm, and the row leaves the list. Removing ticked rows is slower. Facebook shows a box headed Remove Interaction? that says the action can't be undone, and after that it may ask for your Facebook password before anything is removed.

To get to an older stretch, click Date under Filters on the left, pick a Year and click Save changes.

The list mixes likes on posts, photos, reels and comments, so clearing one topic or one person means reading down it.

Manual Slow Option 3: Unlike Facebook Pages in your activity log

Page likes sit in a different part of the activity log.

1. Open your activity log and click Your Facebook activity.
2. Click Pages, then Pages, Page likes and interests.
3. Click the three dots beside a Page and choose Unlike, or tick several Pages and click Remove.

Unfollowing isn't the same thing. On the Page itself, the Following button opens Follow settings, where the choices are Default, Favorites and Unfollow. Unfollow stops the Page's posts from showing in your Feed. It doesn't take the like off your record, so I'd do the unliking from the activity log.

Can You Delete All Facebook Likes at Once?

Not inside Facebook. The activity log lets you tick rows and remove them, but it's one list at a time, with likes and Page likes kept apart and only a year filter to narrow things down.    Download Redact and connect Facebook

   Download Redact and create your account. Click Add account and choose Facebook, then click Connect Facebook and log in to your profile. Your login goes straight from your device to Facebook, and we never see it.

   Pick Likes

   On the simple form, select Likes. That alone queues every like you've left and every Page you've liked. If that's what you want, skip to the preview step. If you'd like to keep some, or only clear part of your history, click Advanced at the top right and open the Likes tab.

   Narrow it down, if you want to

   The Likes tab has four options, and you can leave every one of them as it is.

   • Filter by type has two tiles, Posts and Comments and Pages. Both start ticked. Untick one to keep those likes.
   • Keywords to delete limits the run to likes on content that contains your words or phrases.
   • Keywords to preserve does the reverse. Redact never removes a like on content that contains them.
   • Extended Mode is for big or old accounts. If likes you know are there don't show up in the preview, change it from Off to Yearly or Monthly and run it again.

   The date range limits the run to the years you pick, so you can clear 2012 to 2018 and leave recent likes alone.

   Preview the list

   Pick Preview Mode and press Start Previewing. Redact lists every like that matches and removes nothing. The list is usually longer than people expect, so read through it.

   Switch to Deletion Mode and start

   Pick Deletion Mode and press Start Deleting, then keep the app open while it works. Review & Delete is the middle road, where you approve the likes before they go. Schedule Deletion repeats the run on a schedule, so new likes don't pile up again.
