Mass deleting YouTube comments is difficult because YouTube does not provide a “Delete All” button.

However, there are three main ways to go about it, ranging from a slow manual process to a “nuclear” option that wipes everything instantly.

Here are the step-by-step instructions for each method.

Method 1: Easiest Way to Delete All YouTube Comments

This is the most balanced method. It automates the deletion process for you so you don’t have to click “delete” on every single comment manually.

Prerequisite: You need to use the Google Chrome browser on a desktop computer, or another browser that supports extensions

  1. Install the Extension:
  2. If you’re using Chrome’s “YouTube Comment Deleter“, navigate to Your Comment History:
    • Open YouTube and ensure you are logged in.
    • Go to your Google My Activity page for YouTube comments. You can usually find this by clicking your profile picture on YouTube > Your data in YouTube > Manage your YouTube Watch History > Interactions > Comments and replies.
    • Shortcut 1: Make sure you’re logged into YouTube on this browser, then click this link.
    • Shortcut 2: Search “YouTube Comment History” in Google and click the first “My Activity” result.
  3. Run the Extension:
    • Once you are on the page listing all your comments, click the puzzle piece icon (Extensions) in your browser toolbar.
    • Select YouTube Comment Deleter.
    • Click “Start” or “Delete All”
  4. Wait:
    • The extension will automatically scroll through your history and delete comments one by one. Keep the tab open until it finishes.

Method 2: Fastest Way to Delete All YouTube Comments

Many YouTube comment deleters have reported hiding their channel had the side-effect of wiping all of their comments permanently. This might sound drastic, but if you’re not actively running a YouTube channel, hiding it is worth a try.

Warning: This will also temporarily hide your videos, playlists, and channel page until you re-enable them. Your comments will be gone forever, but your videos can be restored. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Sign in to YouTube Studio.
  2. In the left sidebar, click Settings.
  3. Go to Channel → Advanced settings.
  4. Scroll to the bottom and select Remove YouTube Content.
    • This opens a separate page where you can choose to delete or hide your channel. You may be asked to sign in again.
  5. Choose I want to hide my channel.
  6. Tick all the confirmation boxes to acknowledge what will be hidden or deleted.
  7. Click Hide my channel to complete the process.

Note: Google’s official documentation on channel deletion & hiding does not explicitly state that hiding will delete comments:

Method 3: The Manual Way (No Tools Required)

If you only have a few comments to delete, you can do it officially without third-party tools.

  1. Open Comment History:
    • Go to History in the left sidebar of YouTube.
    • On the right side of the screen, click Comments.
    • Shortcut: Make sure you’re logged into YouTube on this browser, then click this link.
  2. Delete:
    • Hover over a comment and click the X (or the three dots > Delete).
    • Confirm deletion.
    • Repeat for every comment.

Summary of Risks

  • Extensions: Always read reviews before installing. Third-party extensions can sometimes be sold or updated with bad code, so remove the extension once you are done using it.
  • Scripts: You may find “scripts” online to paste into your browser console. Avoid these unless you can read code; pasting random code into your browser is a major security risk.
  • Hiding your account: will reversibly hide your entire account – not just the comments. This method only uses YouTube features, which is ideal, but may not work forever as it’s not reflected in Google’s documentation.
