How to Bulk Unfollow Everyone on Twitter/X

How to Bulk Unfollow Twitter/X Accounts
Mass unfollow is a Redact Premium feature. You don't need X Premium.
Step 1 Download and Install Redact
A Download Redact and install it on your computer or phone.
Runs onWindowsmacOSLinuxiOSAndroidB Open the app and sign in, or create an account if you don't have one.
Step 2 Connect Your Twitter/X Account
A Click Add account and choose Twitter/X.
B Click Connect Twitter/X and log in.
Your login stays on your device. Redact doesn't keep it on its servers.
Step 3 Open the "Unfollow Accounts" Tab on Advanced Mode
A On your Twitter/X account, change the toggle at the top right from Easy to Advanced.
B Click the Unfollow Accounts tab.
Step 4 Pick Who to Unfollow
A Under Who Do You Want to Unfollow?, all five tiles start turned on: Follows You, Muted Accounts, Protected Accounts, Verified Accounts and Unverified Accounts. Leave them all on to unfollow everyone.
B Turn a tile off to keep every account of that kind. Turn off Follows You, for example, and Redact only unfollows accounts that don't follow you back.
C Set a Follower Count Range to only unfollow accounts within it.
D Add handles under Account Names to Preserve to never unfollow them.
Step 5 Run a Preview
A Pick Preview Mode and click Start Previewing.
B Redact lists every account it would unfollow and changes nothing. Check the list, and go back to Step 4 if anything's wrong.
Step 6 Start Unfollowing
A Pick Deletion Mode and click Start Deleting. To check each account before it goes, pick Review & Delete instead.
B Leave Redact open while it works. You can watch its progress as it runs.
There's no undo for an unfollow. If you change your mind, you'll have to follow those accounts again by hand.
Step 7 Check Your Following List
A When the run finishes, open your profile on X and click Following.
B X can take a while to show the new count, so give it time before running again.

Does X have a way to unfollow everyone at once?
No. X only lets you unfollow from the account's profile or your Following list, one account at a time. To unfollow in bulk you need a tool like Redact.
Do I need Premium to mass unfollow?
Yes, Redact Premium. Mass unfollow, along with mass unblock and unmute, is on Redact's paid plans. You don't need X Premium. Deleting your last 30 days of tweets is free, so you can try the app before you upgrade.
Will people know I unfollowed them?
X doesn't send a notification when you unfollow someone. They'd only notice if they look at your Following list or their own follower list.
How long does it take, and what about rate limits?
It depends on how many accounts you follow. X caps how fast any account can unfollow, so Redact follows X's limits. When X asks it to slow down, it waits and then picks up where it stopped. A short list can finish quickly, while a list of thousands can take a good while, so leave the app open until it's done.
Can Redact remove my followers?
No. Redact unfollows the accounts you follow. It doesn't remove people who follow you, and it doesn't touch your posts. To remove a follower, open your Followers list on X, click the three dots next to them and choose to remove them.
Can I keep some accounts while unfollowing the rest?
Yes. Add their handles under Account Names to Preserve, turn off a whole kind of account (like Follows You for mutuals), or set a follower count range.
