What each tool is like

Block Party

Block Party, which its site says has joined DeleteMe, is a browser extension for Chrome, Firefox and Edge on a computer. It works inside the X session you're already logged in to, rather than through X's API, and it deletes posts, reposts, quote posts, replies and likes, and it can leave your DM conversations, so your side of each chat is gone too.

Deleting needs the Personal plan, $8.33 a month billed yearly, with a free seven-day trial on one site. The free Preview plan gives you checklists to follow by hand. Its pages don't mention keyword or date filters or your X archive, so it's built for clearing things out rather than picking through them. The same plan also fixes privacy settings on the other sites it covers, 12 in all.

Circleboom

Circleboom is a website that deletes through X's official API from its own servers, so a big job keeps going after you close the tab. It covers posts, replies, reposts, likes, bookmarks and DMs, with filters for keywords, dates, language and media, and its auto-delete page offers deleting on a schedule that you set once and leave running on its own.

Without your archive it stops at your newest 3,200 posts, and DMs need the DM file from your archive. The Limited Plan is $29.99 a month or $155.88 a year, and its delete page says a free account clears your 50 newest posts a day. There's an iPhone app but no Android one. We go through it row by row in Redact vs Circleboom.

Cyd

Cyd is an open-source app for Windows, macOS and Linux. You sign in to X inside the app and it does the deleting on your own computer, so the app has to stay open while it works. Before deleting, it saves a copy of your tweets, likes, bookmarks and DMs that you can browse offline.

The free plan deletes all your tweets and reposts. Premium, $36 a year, lets you keep the ones you choose and adds likes, bookmarks and DMs, unfollowing everyone and moving your tweets to Bluesky. You can delete by age and keep posts above a number of likes or reposts, but its pages don't mention keyword filters. Cyd's phone app only works with Bluesky.

Redact

Redact is an app for Windows, macOS, Linux, iPhone and Android. It deletes from your own device, so your login, posts and archive never pass through a Redact server, and it only works while the app is open. On X it covers posts, replies, reposts, quotes, likes, DMs and bookmarks (bookmarks on the computer app only), and it also unfollows, unblocks and unmutes.

You can filter by keyword, hashtag, date, media or engagement, and check every match in Preview or Review & Delete before deleting. Disappearing Mode deletes posts once they pass an age you choose. Premium searches X for older posts and replies, so you can delete them without an archive. Older reposts and likes still need an archive import in the computer app. Premium is $95.88 a year ($7.99 a month, billed yearly) or $245 for life. A free account clears posts, replies, reposts and quotes from your last 30 days. It also removes likes of posts published in the last 30 days. Bookmarks of posts published in the last 30 days are also free. Premium also covers most of the other sites Redact works on, Reddit and Discord among them. TweetDelete

TweetDelete is a website, and the same team has a Chrome extension. It deletes posts, replies, reposts, likes and DMs, with keyword and date filters, and Premium can run deleting automatically on a schedule, anywhere from once a week to once a year.

Premium accepts an X archive upload for older posts. The free version only sees your newest 3,200 tweets, and likes stop at your newest 3,200 on every plan. Premium has no monthly cap and is $0.23 a day billed yearly, about $84 a year, and a $99 lifetime plan includes everything in it. The cheaper Pro plan is $0.22 a day billed yearly for 500 tweets or likes a month, and its FAQ says it keeps no record of what it deleted.

TweetDeleter

TweetDeleter is a website you sign in to with your X account. Its Unlimited plan deletes as many tweets and likes as you want, takes your X archive, filters by keyword and date, and runs an automatic delete every four hours. Its pages don't mention DMs or bookmarks.

Unlimited is $0.21 a day billed yearly, about $77 a year, or $0.43 a day billed monthly. There's also a $99.99 lifetime plan, and the cheaper Advanced plan caps you at 3,000 tweets a month and your last 1,000 likes. Its free column on the pricing table is empty, and its pages disagree on how far back it can reach without your archive (100 posts on one page, 10,000 on another). The iPhone app called "Tweet Deleter: X Post Cleaner" isn't theirs; it's made by Circleboom.

TweetEraser

TweetEraser is a website that takes your X archive and deletes posts, replies, reposts and likes, filtered by keyword and date. Its Expert plan has no monthly cap and runs deleting tasks automatically. Its pages don't mention DMs or bookmarks, and one subscription covers just one X account, so a second account means a second plan.

Expert is $0.19 a day billed yearly, about $69 a year, or $0.36 a day billed monthly, and a $99.99 lifetime plan includes everything in it. The cheaper Advanced plan stops at 500 tweets or likes a month. Its FAQ quotes different prices from the pricing page, so we went by the pricing page.

TweetStorm.ai

TweetStorm.ai is a Chrome extension that also runs in Edge, Brave and Opera, deleting inside your logged-in X session. It removes posts, replies, reposts and likes, and filters by keyword, date and engagement. It doesn't use your archive, so it works through what your profile still shows.

The free plan covers 15 deletes a month. Professional is $12 a month, billed monthly only, for unlimited deletes and unlikes. It's also a growth tool, and the same plans include bulk follows, bulk likes and an AI writer for drafting new posts and replies.

TweetXer

TweetXer is a free, open-source script you paste into your browser or install as a userscript, including on a phone through a userscript add-on. It reads the tweet file from your X archive and deletes posts and replies, including ones that no longer show on your profile. It can also delete DM conversations from the archive's DM files. Its slower mode removes reposts through your X profile without an archive.

There are no filters, likes stop at the newest few hundred, and bookmarks can only be exported. Its own page warns that automating deletion this way may get your account banned.

Unpost

Unpost is a phone app for iPhone and Android. You log in through X's normal web sign-in and it deletes on your phone, covering posts, replies, reposts, likes and bookmarks, with an archive import for older posts. It also cleans eight other sites from the same app, including Discord, Instagram, Reddit, Slack, TikTok and YouTube.

The free plan has a daily limit, though its pages don't say how many. Premium removes the limit, and the App Store lists it at $19.99 a month. Its own site doesn't publish any prices. Its X guide confirms keyword and date filters for X posts.

Which tweet deleters are free

• Cyd deletes all your tweets and reposts for free, on a computer.
• TweetXer deletes posts and replies from your archive for free, plus DMs. Its slower mode also removes reposts, but it has no filters.
